Interesting. Last year we here in the San Antonio area were in the same dry spell most of you seem to be in now...water restrictions, nasty water, boil before drinking, water grass only once per week (= dead grass) etc. Nothing new, as we've been there many times before.

This year however, we went some 40 days in which we had rain every day. Low water crossing floods, rescues, deaths...and we have plenty of water and I can't remember my grass in Texas ever being greener.

It was a real shock when I moved from Tx to Idaho. I remember being out in the yard working and saw neighbors just "wasting" water...one had a hose on high that was just flowing water down their drive and into the street. I almost freaked! I also kept waiting for the water bill to arrive...for months. Then I mentioned it to my boss and he told me that not only did I not have a bill, but never would...something about a water use agreement in the Snake River Valley, or something another.

Never-the-less, what really annoys me during those water rationing periods, are the restrictions and prices that we as taxpayers pay (and the fines if we are deemed as wasteful), while businesses continue to run their sprinkler systems and the water just runs down the street.
