New here and have some ?s

hey i just picked up a 99' ranger with the 3.0 v6. great little truck but i have a quick question. the guy i bought it from said it had a super chip in it, where would it be located at? not use to all this electrical stuff, considering my other vehicle has about 4 wires on it!!!!!

Superchips makes performance tuners that change the factory settings in the E.C.M. that's the engine control module. Back in the "old" days the change was made by actually pluging a computer chip into the ECM. Now you reprogram the ECM using a hand held device plugged into the diagnostic port. Your "Super Chip" is most likely one of the old style chips. http://www.superchips.com/contact_us.php

If your computer has been reflashed with a programer, you won't see it, but a chip will piggyback on the computer it's self. Alot of the new programs require higher octane fuel to stop detenation. Does your truck require higher octane fuel, or does it run fine on 87?
