If the air to fuel ratios are spot on and your truck runs well, you will have no problem passing the sniffer tests.
My truck passed CA emissions twice. Including the visual inspection. Just make sure you tell them your stock components failed, and thats why you aren't running a stock system. It is only illegal to replace functional equipment in CA.
I'm not clear as to how they define "functional equipment," but I'd think the California DMV would probably suffer panic attacks at the sight of headers in a '92 model year truck. If they even see 'em...just keep documentation handy, I guess.

They didn't have panic attacks for a 94 with long tubes!! Again.. you can replace faulty OEM equipment with aftermarket components.
Remind yourself that it's one high school drop out to get by for your "final exam" with the emissions test. If you pass the sniffer exam, there's not much motivation to keep you waiting.
I always paid the $40 to do a dry run at any other emission place, to make sure my sniffer test would pass when it counted.
I was only visually checked once.. and I think it was because how loud the 5.0 purred during the sniffer test....

Loud isn't necessarily a bad thing, though the sniffer test would be an exception. I don't think my I-6 would sound all that great if I started putting hardcore aftermarket exhaust components on it, either...
