Hi there I have a 74' f250 project that been collecting some serious dust i decided to get back working on it. what options do i have for a gas tank in the back the truck has the narrow frame rails. and anothe question, I am looking at the conversion from a 390 to a 460 on L&L site they have fender headers and chasis headers. It says I need a body lift for the fender headers what ones are more liked thanks
Kind of depends on what you like. The fender exit headers you need the body lift and also need to trim out the inside fenders a bit for them to fit. And you won't be able to use you front splash guards inside the fenders, but the 74's never had them anyway I don't think. And if you care, fender exit headers are not street legal. Chassis exit supposed to fit nicely with no modifications.
As far as a fuel tank back there, you can make a bronco II tank fit. Just move the rear crossmember back and then make a new one for the front so you can strap the tank in. There are some pics In the galleries from another FTE user but I can't remember who it was. If you have the money, you can buy a 32 gallon tank that was made to fit without moving any crossmembers and supposed to bolt up to the frame, but its about $500 from aerotanks.com. You can always make a fuel cell fit. some have done that. Fuel cells are not street legal also.
also check out the 4x4 (off road forum) as many of the guys "in the know" don't or won't come to this forum because it is too cluttered with other stuff.
People seem to think everyone comes to this forum because of the years it covers ......but
little do they realize that the people with special knowledge and skills hangout in the specific system forums.
