I always use K&N oil filters. I thought they were the by-pass type, the K&N site says nothing about a by-pass feature

I believe he's talking about a secondary bypass oil filter to filter out smaller particles that the factory full flow filter does not catch. I haven't installed one on my truck yet, but am considering it. Some names I have investigated are:
Ok now I understand. I was under the impression he was refering to a spin on filter that when it clogged it by-passed dirty oil to keep the engine from seizing. I guess if you ever get to that point your screwed anyway !

I think most full flow filters do have this bypass option to begin with so that there is adequate oil pressure at startup.
I just Installed a Oil Guard bypass filter for my truck. It was so easy to install 35 Min fron opening the box to starting the truck. I'm getting the 1st oil test this week and I can't wait to compair it to past oil samples. Give them a serious look befor buying a expencive kit the were the most reasonable $160.00 very easy to install and they guarantee 1 micron filtration. the others don't. Yes I know it sounds like a commercial but I realy like the system. the only thing that I would change is on the oil sample valve I would include a hose for it. but I just used a foot of clear hose I had at the house. done deal.
