I noticed a leak under my truck and decided to go and read all the posts pertaining to water pumps . So I guess its time to do the big upgrade job , t-stat , housing , waterpump ,hoses , and antifreeze . I read on here some time ago but cannot find it again where someone was taking about changing the upper coolant hose with one that is designed for a dual alternator so if the serpentine belt needs to be replaced you dont have to drain coolant and remove the hose ? Also , any recommandations on a new water pump ? Mileage is 150000 .
Upper radiator hose would be the dual alt one, or at Napa they have the two listing and it would be the long one..There is a couple places to get the waterpumps for inexpensive--Napa has them.
Same here, but I only have a few thousand miles on mine. The Napa near me lists the upper hose you want as the "prefered" one. If you don't already know, the place to get the 203* stat and housing is dieselsite.com
When I did mine a few months ago, the Napa hose did not work. It would hit the belt before I could attach it to the rad no matter what I did. I ended up taking it back and just using the stock hose.
