Hey was wondering how hard it is to swap out a newer 5spd manual overdrive transmission into a 1986 F250 with a 6.9L with a Current T19 4spd? What all do you need to do? Thanks for the info.
I just did this EXACT swap ZF-5 for T-19 in an 86 F250.

for all the info - including parts numbers that will allow you to piece together a working clutch set for under $200 - instead of $500 for the LUK kit.....
I did the same thing, except with automatic, went from a C6 to an E4OD after putting 3.08 gears in.
The ZF 5 speed is longer than the T19, so you will have to replace or modify your driveshaft(s), and move the crossmember back.
I think you will also need the clutch and flywheel from the ZF, other than that, it should be fairly strait forward. cheaperjeeper did this swap recently, maybe he will chime in. EDIT, never mind, here he is.......
Something that might be worth considering, is 3.08 gears, depending on what you do with you rig.
CheaperJeeper-Awesome thread! This helped out tremendously! When looking for a transmission, do I have to find one that came off a 6.9L or do the 6.9L and 7.4L share the same bellhousing pattern? Thanks again for the info.

6.9 and 7.3 (never seen a 7.4 ) both have the same bellhousing AND flywheel AND pressure plate bolt patterns. If it came off one it will go onto the other
The only place you run into differences is between the T-19 and ZF-5. That is what the other thread is about - what is different and what you can do about it.
