A new problem.....when the a/c is on and my '03 Escape is at low revs, the engine stalls out even if the engine is warm, which is a bit alarming in rush-hour traffic!
Anyone got any ideas?
IAC is one of the easiest things to clean, I had to clean mine 2 times in about three weeks. You need a 5/16 socket and ratchet with extension. 2 bolts, unplug and clean with brakekleen, carb cleaner, might need to get some q-tips and put back together. It's worth a shot It made our '02 not idle and i had to drive it 25 miles to work like that, cleaned then presto. Good Luck JOE
Take some throttle body / carb cleaner spray ( make sure it states that it's safe for O2 sensors ) and clean and wipe around the butterfly valve ( both sides ) at the openining of the air ram mainfold. This is located where the large hose comes from the air cleaner up to the air ram manifold. I would do this when the engine is cool. Varnish and a gummy gunk builds up in this area and causes performance problems. Hope this helps.

Or, not have a clue what you, obviously very knowledgable chaps, are talking about;book it in on a Ford recall, pay a fortune and get them to sort it out !!
The IAC is the Idle Air Control device and its very easy to replace. Cleaning is usually a temporary fix. Buy a new one, pop the hood, and you will see where the old one is. They get carbon in them and it messes up the idle air flow.
