The P3 is the higher end one above the Prodigy, so looks like I did right on this. It is very sweet thus far, was a breeze to set the brake sesnitivity, and allows for several types of customization when I want. Check it out. The prodigy is the controller below the P3 :-)
you are most welcome.
neal, that is the ashtray housing, all i did was pull the tray out and remove the 2 tracks(2 phillips on each side i think) the cb is a uniden bearcat from wallyworld-$40, it fits in place as you see it with no mounts, perfect fit. has never rattled or squeeked or even popped out while offroading
my slave cd deck is where the ashtray used to be. i did have the cb in the little cubby, but i got bigger one now and it had to go on the dash. if i ever get a different stereo, the cb goes straight to the old ashtray spot.
regarding brake controllers...how should they be setup...I am new to trailer brakes and need to know how to set the controller for proper braking...
I have a tekonsha prodigy in my expy with a digital read out and a tekonsha voyager in the truck(the one in the truck came with the truck as well as a hidden gooseneck hitch)
Mark, Having had to do this today I found it very easy. Your guide should give you what they reccomend as the starting point, but basically it is drive 25mph on a flat/level dry sruface and then fully apply the manual ****. If the trailer locks up, decrease the braking power on the unit. If it is loose, increase it. What you are after is maximum braking just below the lockup point and you should afterwords feel the trailer braking evenly with your truck. Obviously, this will vary load to load but it is a very easy procedure to repeat. They also reccomond you warm up your trailer brakes by driving a 1/4 mile 45 while slightly engaging the manual switch. I am not so sure about this part, but once you dial in enjoy and motor on :-)
