Slipping 2-3 shift
Can someone tell me the likely cause for the 2-3 shift to slip? If I keep constant acceleration, the engine will rev violently for a few seconds and then shift into 3rd at the shift point. If I let up on the throttle before the shift point, I can get it to shift much smoother, and I've been driving it like that for a while, but it's bothering me. The trans used to slip on every change when I got it, but I replaced the fluid & filter and modulator and now every shift is smooth except for 2-3. I haven't tightened the bands; are one of those involved in the 2-3 shift? Did I perhaps not seat the modulator correctly? Working space was tight because of the exhaust pipe/crossmember.
I appreciate any suggestions.

soft or delayed 2>3 shift

the A4LD has no EPC solenoid valve so scratch that one
modulator must be installed correctly or 1>2 shift would be harsh and late
probably your high-reverse clutch pack, valve body valve control for 2>3 shift or clutch pack piston seals
any particles, chunks in bottom of tranny pan when you changed ATF and filter?
