<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width="100%">Hey, I have a 2000 v10 4x4 with 114,000 miles or so. At 1800 to 2000 rpms i have a metal rattle it sounds like a heat shield but is not. If i remove the inspection plate on the tranny it gets louder. I think maybe torque converter but not for sure so HELP . Feels like lost power at low end torque and when i shift from gear to gear i get a loud thunk but u joints are good.Any ideas...... please help

Also check the bolts bellhousing to engine and then check the fluid level. However, with the power loss, I think your T/C is on it's way out. The T/C multiplies torque and if fluid is bypassing it, it can feel like a power loss.
sorry it took so long to get back, the 6 bolts on the torque converter are good now for the torgue converter i need more time and money will it mess up the inside of the tranny
What I was trying to say is if the 6 bolts are loose you can get a rattle noise at certen engine speeds and load also a loose flywheel to crankshaft.If a convetor fails, rpm will be higher than normual under aceleration, watch your tack if rpm verys at hiway speeds it's the lock-up clutch. The only way to check ''how bad is it'' is drain trans oil, check magnet in pan and see how mush matteral is in pan and filter, well it hert it to drive? keep it to a minamum untill i'ts checked.
WOW need help , mercon v or mercon....... on a quart of mercon v atf it say for 1996 and up but all the books say mercon and do not use mercon v...... which one to use because i used mercon v a year ago on a fillter change ....all 17.7 quarts.....maybe the reason for all the problems

ACTION
Beginning immediately all automatic transmission / transaxle applications requiring MERCON(R) can now be serviced using MERCON(R) V or MERCON(R) Automatic Transmission Fluid or dual usage fluids labeled MERCON(R) / MERCON(R) V. After July 1, 2007, MERCON(R) Automatic Transmission Fluid will no longer be manufactured, therefore, availability of this fluid will only continue for however long it takes to deplete what remains in inventory.
