P/S Question ?
Hey follks, I"m in the process of getting parts for my 55 f100 and I am putting on pwr steering. I have seen and read the articles on addin the p/s box from a toyota 4x4 and was wondering if the pump from the same donar will also work or would I have to go with somethin else altogether? Thanks in advance for the info everyone provides in this form.

The power steering box you are looking for is from the Toyota 4x4's from 1979-1984 or early 85. Basically you want the box from the 4x4's that still had a solid front axle, not independant front suspension. As for the pump, its a crap shoot. If you use the toyota pump then you have all the right fitting for the hoses but you have to fabricate mounting brackets. If you run a pump from whatever donor your engine came from then you have the brackets but have to come up with fittings for the hoses.
What engine are you running?
There was an interesting solution to the fittings problem the other day, a seaerch should bring it up, it was posted by an fte member named gusso that does some amazing work.

try classicperform.com or midfifty.com they have all the goodies to adapt a Ford P/S pump to your toyota gearbox. If you hav'nt bought your Toyota P/S gearbox yet, I just listed one on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...145440512&rd=1
