Wikipedia (yeah i know it isnt very accurate) said that the C6 was used up until 96 in the f series trucks, but it doesnt say that the AOD was used in the f series trucks, even though I know I have one in mine.
The AOD was found behind 5.0 motors in F150's & Broncos in the late '80s-early-90's. F250 and 5.8 trucks got the C6 before the E4OD was available.. somewhere around 1990. There was a ton of overlap with these trannys, but I think the AOD was mostly restricted to light duty 5.0 powered trucks.
The chart says that the 81-83 pickups were f100s. I thought thats what they were in that year, but I have seen 83 pickups that are f150s. Was that a buffer year range or something? When did they officially change from f100s to f150s?

The salesman from FORD (a factory sale and not a dealer sale) that sold me my 1983 F150 new said that the F150 was a heavy half to get around some emission control and MPG requirements. He said that the lower rated 83 F100 were for the most part Computer Controlled and did not have a frame as heavy as the F150. In other words the F150 had a higher GVWR than the F100. The F150 also had heavier springs than the F100.
