Well we're in the peak of rice cutting season, and it was 110* at the drier yesterday. Mind you, of our 3 trucks none have a/c (2- 1970 International Harvester 1600 loadstars, 1 1979 ford 600) needless to say when im waiting for a load, im underneath the truck taking a nap... these 12-14 hour days are burnin me out
Got to 99 today....Expected to get to 100 tomorrow....and the high 90s the rest of the week.......It's gotten to the high 90s since Sunday.......
Add to that the ongoing drought......
And yes...you Southwestern boys....I realize that you'uns break 100 regularly....but THIS is wet heat......Not that candy-a$$ dry heat!...(haha)...
How's everyone doing?
Hey now.. we are up to 95 with 20-40% humidity... so lay off us... LOL
I just put my house up on the market preparing to move to Charlotte, so cool it off before we get out there!
Our summer has been nasty this year. The montly average, as reported out at the airport, was 92°. But both my outside in the shade thermometers were both averaging 99° all month. We were only over a hundred a couple times but it was still like being under a blowtorch. The sun just BURNED to be out in it.
So far this month, things have been pretty mellow..but still hot. After acclimatizing to the July temps, this month has been a cakewalk so far. Supposed to get up to high 80's later this week.
One thing that's helped cool things off a bit is all the danged forest fires up here.( The smoke covering the sun. ) We have had 9 burning for the last few weeks. Today, 4 more popped up west of town. Hopefully they'll catch them before they wipe out too much, like the others are doing. These high temps and the 7th year of drought are making our woods just explosive. One fire had or still has, a front line over 8 miles wide.... and cooking fast with the winds we've had. Still waiting for the town of Seeley Lake to burn down, but I'm hoping the lake will contain the worst of it. Fire can still jump the lake though..so, no tellin what'll happen. 480 square miles lost in Montana alone, so far.
You ain't seen hot, until you are on a fire line in 90°+ temps. Been there once. Once was enough.
Today's forcast hot 96 with a feels like temperature of 108. With the shuttle going off today, it should be a field day for the county rescue squads...
Nothing like having an over-weight tourist from somewhere up north passing out in the middle of busy US 1 while trying to cross 6 lanes of traffic!
It is not too bad here at the moment. It is 93 degrees with only 50% humidity and a heat index of 100. It is supposed to get up to 101 today though. My butt will be parked right here in the ac. I have plenty to do but I don't mind procrastinating till next week when the highs are supposed to be in the low 90s.
Hot and humid over this way too, I always know its gonna be a wonderful day when I get swamp nuts on the way to the mailbox.
Well starting tomorrow the heat index here will be over 106 for the next 2 days. As far as the swamp nuts, that is a new one on me, would hot and sticky and moist(i better stop here with the description) be what you are talking about?
