I have an early 99, and I am having issues with high EGT's. I wanted to install a 99.5 - 2003 stock turbo with a wicked wheel, but I was not sure if it would be enough to make a difference alone, and if it was easy to install on an early 99. Or, would it be best to just put a 4 inch exhaust system (re-using the CAT since it is required in my county) instead of upgrading the turbo?
the up dated turbo will lower EGT a little..at least it did on mine..HP gains are when you put the 17*HPOP and injectors in her..i just did the swap with the turbo a few weeks ago..wasnt all that bad...in the exploded 7.3 vew in my sig is pictures from my up grade...
If it were me honestly i wouldnt waste my time with Stock 99.5 and up injectors. I would get some Single Shot if i was gonna just get the 17 degree pump and get an upgraded drop in Turbo. some 180 single shot injectors on the 17 degree pump and a drop in turbo would be my choice.
when the cash is right im going with a TN turbo and split shots...but for now the price was perfect for swapping over turbo's..even if it is stock..i did add the wicked wheel to it...
I dont want to spend a lot of money. Do you think the best solution is to go with a 4 inch exhaust?
...
you already have the 6637 filter i see..so yes the 4" will help lower egt's to..but you will need a cat to work with it..is your cat have a 4"in let and out let??any time you flow more air it helps... you can get a good system for a good price here.. http://stores.ebay.com/MKO-DIESEL-PERFORMANCE i have his 5" strait pipe..i love it..i live where salt is used a lo..t so i painted mine with black stove paint...been almost a year and it still looks good...sorry i didnt answer the question first..i thought you was asking if a turbo swap would help.....
