oil filter problem

oil filter problem

i have a 302 from a 96' the oil filter has a through bolt that has holes in it. i cant figure it out. oil cooler? i was given the bottom end its for a my 1978 f 100 but i need a filter to finish. i was told it is a H/O but i just dont know

the block has the female end the bolt is hollow about 3/4 in dia. long as a filiter should be

that's long for a cooler adaptor, but you never know. Head to a scrap yard and get one from a block kicking around any 302 351W 300/6 to name a few will have the right nipple.

The Explorer/Mountaineers had an angle adapter between the block and filter that used a hollow bolt. The 90's 351W's in the pickups and vans had a oil cooler adapter that also used the hollow bolt. The Explorer/Mountaineer adapter used the newer metric Ford oil filter where the Windsor oil cooler used the old FL-1A filter.
