I just got a Sirius radio for my truck. Its a stand alone unit and I was wondering if I could plug it directly into the radio and use it through my AUX button. Is this possible. I do get a lot of interference with it and hope that this will work to eliminate it. Thanks, Sarge
You can purchase yourself a PIE adapter for your radio. It will plug directly into the back of the radio. You will have a power wire you need to put 12v to and a ground wire. EZ install and simple directions. I picked 2 up on ebay.
Thanks for the help. I ordered the wire today from Crutchfield. Hopefully this will solve some of the issues I have with interference and the fact that the radio needs to be 3/4 of the way up until I can hear it.
i use the direct adapter wired relay. http://www.tss-radio.com/direct-adap...ay-p-4082.html
with this adapter, you do not need a power connection. it goes in line with the antenna to eliminate static and interference from other sirius radio equip cars driving near you, and when you disconnect or power down the sirius radio, it automatically returns to regular fm radio
Sarge- Just get a panel tool or something behind the trim. It is just pops. They will come off and stay in the dash too, so be sure to get them out and put them back ont eh trim before you reinstall the trim. (You will see what I mean when you get the trim off). As for power. Behind the radio look for pink/black or lt. green/yellow in the radio plug. Be sure to test before you tap in and fuse the wire. Those colors should be for ignition.
TJC- All that does it cut out other frequencies other than the one you ahve selected on your unit...like normal radio stations. You still must have a power connection whether it be the cig. lighter or hardwired. You cannot draw power from the antenna lead.
Thanks for the help guys. I can wait til the stuff getsa here and the Sirius will work as it should .Kind if a pain in the behind now. All static and such. Anyway thanks again and I will post when the job is done.

there is no power required for the adapter. it senses the load from the Sirius receiver, and switches the antenna to the Sirius from the car radio, in effect removing the antenna from the equation and becomes a hardwire connection between the radio and receiver.

Agreed. My bad, I thought you mean he didnt have to use the Cig. adapter at all to power the radio
Just installed the PIE adapter, and the RCA cables and now the Sirius works properly. Thanks for all your help and I cant say enough about those guys at Crutchfield. they helped out a lot. All I have to dois push The AUX button and its right there. Its worth the extra $100 for the converter.
I had the same problem with my Sirius at first. I even tried that FM booster thing that attaches to the windshield and it was actually worse with that connected.
I got the casette adaptor for mine that basically works the same as an Aux wire (I dont have an Aux port on my radio) and now its crystal clear.
