Stearing over bumps
Recently purchased a 04 SCREW F150 Lariat. Approx 36000 miles.
Love everything about the truck, except when going around corners at varying speeds (exit ramps, long curves in the road) and there is any sort of bump in the road. If you are not paying attention, you could get thrown off the road. It feels like the tail end of the truck jumps up and gets thrown to the side. Happens going around corners either way. Driving straight and going over bumps, no issues, just around corners. They have to be fairly substancial bumps, like where the road has swelled together and rising at the seams.
I have owned many Ford Trucks before, but this is the first one I have had that does this. Now, this is the first of the new body style that I have owned.
Just curious is there is somthing wrong stearing/suspension wise or if this is just a known "feature" of the new trucks.
Thanks in advance.
But what is the recommended mileage when shocks should be replaced?
The truck pulls my boat great.
There is no squeaks or noise when going over bumps or anything.
The truck gets used less than I would like, but I drive an old Ford back and forth to work. Not near as comfortable, but the old one has 192,000 miles on it already so I just keep driving it untill it is not worth fixing anymore.
I guess I should just continue to monitor it and see if it improves or gets worse. I hope it doesn't get much worse, it will seriously throw you off the road if not paying attention.

The comments are almost always something to the effect of "wow, those original shocks were completely shot compared to the new ones I put on".
You don't fully appreciate how bad the old ones are until you're taking them off and compare their motion to the new shocks.

Talk about hopping!
It's fairly interesting, but of course the other brand's fan-boys claim it's rigged. Did the F150 in that test video have the same shocks that roll off the assembly line? Ummmm.....
It wouldn't be hard for me to believe that it didn't.Your shocks are probably not shot at 1200 compared to how they rolled off the line, but they're certainly not a premium shock either. They have to be tuned to satisfy the "average" customer, so they're probably a tad mushy compared to a Bilstein, for example, and don't provide near the wheel control of higher end shocks.
