I'm starting to eyeball all the little things that will eventually need attention when I get my '65 F250 ready to paint. One thing that has me concerned is the fitment of the passenger door. This truck is all original and has never been wrecked. The drivers door fits fine, but the passenger door is not right and I have determined that either the door or the cab is tweeked. It's as if the door's window frame is bent towards the rear of the truck. If you line up the door to the cab at the bottom the window frame is off, or vise verse. It's not terrible, but it's not right either, and now's the time to fix it. Apparently, back in the day, they really didn't care too much about fitment as this would have never left the plant like this today. Anyway, I've pretty much determined that the cab is right and the door is off through some rough measurments. Any suggestions how one would bend the whole window frame forward? It needs to go about a 1/2" at the top, maybe a little less.
Mine was a little off too and at the 1/2 off day at the local pick-n-pull I got the whole door plus hinges for 25.00 and since I am getting the truck ready for paint next spring it was a good purchase. It's suprising that in 2007 there are still a few of these once is a while at the salvage yard.
Other than the window frame this door is perfect, no dents, dings, or scratches, which makes parting with it in favor of antother, hard to do.....also unbelievable for a 42 year old truck!
Yes, good call, but that's not it.
I am able to roughly measure the cab door opening, and comparing left to right there's nothing that much different. It's harder to maesure the door, but using some straight edges, and such, you can tell it's different from the drivers door.
when you say itsoff because it is pushed back i am thinking of the truck from a side veiw and the top of the door and window frame is actually close to 1/2inch back? but the door lines up otherwise? IF IM GETTING THIS RIGHT THEN i would say cut and move it, this way you only affect what is wrong but im having a hard time understanding that the window frame is the only bent part. if i were you i would measure the offset of the door and fender line and the offset of the widow frame line and measure the distance on both sides on your truck and then another truck that lines up just to see if that is exactly whats bent, hope this makes sence.
