P0713 code and assoc indicators - help

My problem is with our 2003 F250SD crew cab with a 6.0L powerstroke and a torqshift transmission. the problem occurs after the vehicle is driven a little. The trans temp rises to just about normal operating temp (less than 1/2 way) and then pegs.

I have diagnosed a fault (check gage/engine lights)the fault to P0713* "Transmission Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit High. I also have a blinking tow / haul mode light on the end of the

I suspect the sensor is faulty. When the transmission is cold, I can get the sensor to work OK.

Anyone have an idea as to where this sensor is located?

I really would prefer to replace this sensor myself rather than bring the car into the dealership for a few days and some flailing...

If you can get to library by you that has AllData online. Just look your truck up and it should tell you.

The TFT is part of the solenoid block and is not individually replacable.

Replacement of the solenoid block involves dropping the pan and removing the valve body first to gain access to the solenoid block.

I believe it is individually replacable on the TorqShift trans. It is on the solenoid body inside the pan.

Oops, missed that "TorqShift" detail, was looking up the 4R100.

Yep, the sensor is individually replaceable. Don't have to drop the valve body, either.
