Lock as in LOCK to prevent thieves or "lock" as in stay shut?

Can you lock it with the key ? Mine would'nt . I removed the lower caseing ( just pops out ) & cleaned up the grease encrusted dust , oiled it , & exercised it a lot .
My electric solenoid needs the diode treatment listed in the forums "how to section "to function without the key .

It latches, but doesn't lock the handle to keep my tools from being stolen.
I tried the key and the remote to lock it with no luck.
When the lock button is pushed you can hear and feel the actuator in the hatch working, but it doesnt lock it.

A bad actuator would still allow him to manually lock it with the key, though.

yatchdoc73...what do you keep in there and where do you live? I think you're gonna have open 'er up before I get there.

Will be tearin 'er down today!
I work on boat and yachts- mobile service to various lakes and harbors, so all my tools are usually in the back.
Thanks for all the help!

I'm with exposition, same drill for the lock itself, twice now. Think I'm going to have to do it again soon. Have found it to be unlocked a couple times recently.

Tore the back hatch apart- pops apart with quick connect tabs.
Found all the dirt road dust had stopped everything from actuating.
PB Blaster fixed er right up
