Hi, I am currently looking at a nice 2005 Lariat F250. This thing has all the options but two that I would like. It doesnt have upfitters (no biggie, thats easy to install myself) and it doesnt have the Tow Command brake controller.

Would it be possible to have the Tow Command installed into a truck that doesnt have it? Would it be as "simple" as hooking up the upfitters (plug and play)?

Can the dealership install the tow command brake controller on a truck that didnt come with it from factory?

Has anyone done this before? Thanks!

 

Yes in short, it's around $500 in parts. I have seen a couple of threads on it here and I know someone who has had it done. I think it was just a new master cylinder and the controller with assorted harnesses.

Phew! Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I just went into panic mode. My 06 F350 was stolen last month. Insurance should be cutting me a check this week so I put a deposit on a new 08 on Friday. I have not seen the truck only the window sticker the dealer emailed me. I could not locate a short bed CC F350 in Blue anywhere. The dealer found me one about 150 miles away. If you want a long bed they are everywhere. Anyway, I was just sitting here looking at the window sticker and realized it did not have the Tow Command. I about crapped myself! Not sure why FORD would install the works. Navigation, Audiophile system, towing package, towing mirrors and not the tow command. DUH! After having it for the last 3 years I refuse to use an inferior system. The first thing I thought of was quick do a search on FTE and see if I can install it after I get the truck.
