Aftermarket brake controller placement

I have a 2006 F250 SD that did not come with the Tow Command System. I plan to install the Prodigy, but I am having trouble locating a good place to mount it that will not interfere with the fuse panel cover or storage compartment door that is directly below the pocket where the Tow Command would have been. There does not appear to much of a metal flange under the dash to install to. Any sugestions?

Thanks

Mine is located on the bottom of the fuse panel cover, by that metal flange you spoke of. I have it screwed into the plastic itself, seems to be ok there. I haven't hit it with my foot, and can still reach it if I have to.

The Prodigy fits perfectly in the space where the factory controller is supposed to go. I think they made it to fit. Just pop out the tray and disconnect the wire harness from the back of the tray, drill a hole in the back and plug it into the Prodigy and then slide it in the hole. Perfect fit! I can take a picture of mine if you need it.

Thats where I put it also in my 05 F-350, that pocket is useless for anything else.

Thanks Scott. I thought about that, but I do not have the prodigy yet and was unsure how it would fit there. I have a few more questions for you.

Does the unit just sit in the tray (pocket) or is it attached in some way? Does it slide around?
Doesn't the Prodigy have a **** on the bottom, can you still get to it?

Does it stick way out of the dash?

I plan to get the unit in a day or two, so it may be more clear to me then.

Thanks again
Elwood

Scott,

Love to see a pic of your install. I have been laboring over the same thing. Where to install it where it will be out of the way and look good. Sounds like you have the solution.

It does not move around. It fits like a glove in there. It cant move because the wire harness plugs into the back of the unit. I will take a picture today for you. It sticks out about 1 1/2". But it does not look bad at all.
