I'm not sure I understand what this mod accomplishes. It looks like you routed a hose that exits underneath the engine bay. Won't that help induce water INTO the engine?

What are the gains of this mod?

it takes the crankcase vent out of the air intake and prevents oil from going back into the motor via the crankcase vent, I re-reouted teh vent to the frame

I routed mine with 16' of hose all the way back to the rear end incase I wanted to tie it into the exhaust sometime. I have heard with a short hose it will smll a bit.

It also gets rid of the restricting piece in the intake where it connects originally.

The black boot is a superduty unit also the same as Ford's updated unit for our trucks. here are some part numbers for you

Intake Hose Kit (updated kit replaces orange hose, includes replacement for aluminum center section)
(Ford) F7TZ-9C681-AA
Intake Hose, updated black (Replacement hose for above, does not directly replace orange hose)
(Ford) F81Z-9C681-BA

the top one is the kit and the bottom is just a replacement hose. if you have the orange hose now you need to get the top kit.

Also keep your eyes out. I hope to have a new version of the CCV mod installed and pictured this week. I have a large amount of blowby and vapor that vents so I have built a catch can for the oil and will be routing the vent back into the intake with an improved intake housing if I have time to build it this week. I have so much vapor that people think my truck is smoking or on fire. It get annoying in town with people staring at you.

Question

Well Im going to change the orange boot with the black one and I have a question: Im going to remove the CCV vent housing from the intake and will replace it with a piece of 4" exhaust pipe to open the intake tubing by a pretty good amount, but the stock one has an inserts to put 2 screws in it, so I have to weld some nuts on it to fix it to the stock pedestal? or it is not necessary? BTW I dont have the orange boot like TJ pictures between it and the filter, I have the original black one and my filter is fixed to the frame with a strand (?).

thanks in advance.
