what is this?



this is a pic of my head, its a 79 400. my quetion is what is the round hole right in the middle between the intake ports. it is not covered by the intake manifold. there is one on each head and the hole is only about an inch deep. its kind of an eyesore.

Your picture isn't showing up, but from your description it sounds like the exhaust crossover. There is a description on bubbaf250's website:

ok that website helped. what i'm talking about is the exhaust crossover cooling hole. its an ugly hole but i guess i can't plug it

The exhaust cross over warms the floor on the intake manifold for better fuel atomizing. You can block it but it wont warm up as fast in the winter.
