So in my 79 F100 XLT.. I figure since I have a set of door panels almost prepared to go in, I should go full tilt and replace everything that needs to be replaced in the doors.
One issue with my truck is the window cranks. They, well 'wobble'. Screws are tight for the cranks, etc., just that I can grab one end, wiggle about 1/2"+/- easily. My 78 Cougar didn't have this issue at all.
Is this particular to all these trucks (normal) or just mine (something wrong).
I put aftermarket doors on mine. The door striker on the passager side did not line up, had to elongate some holes. Also the weather strip around the vent window did not fit right. On the drivers side we tried 2 doors and they would not line up with the body lines. I found a N.O.S. door at National Parts Depot for a little more. It fit and you can tell the differance in the wieght.
Eh, that sounds like a crap shoot. I'll probably just get the lower door skins both inner and outer. Factor in shipping and it's like $200 a door for the 'cheapies'.
back to his question: what is most likely wrong since i have just replaced my doors and had to switch over all the door parts to the used ones. i know. on the back of the window crank when you have it out you need to look and the stem for the handle. the cylinder shaped peice where the window crank goes to and look on the back. it is installed on there by like three little cricles. i had two of them on wobbled and one didnt. the wobble is from the one with a ring missing from the crank cylinder. and the one that didnt wasnt missing a circle. you will know what i am talking about if you look at it.
