I drove my truck home last night and pulled into the driveway to an idle. As I sat for a bit the truck was running very rough at idle. I subsequently popped in a new CPS, with no change. I woke up this morning and drove it to a job, no problems with the idle. Not too sure what is going on with it. I am about to change my turbo, pedestal and all, with new boots. It runs killer on the road at speed, so I dont think I have an injector problem. I might try changing the fuel filter next. Any ideas?
yup fuel filter. Is the oil in good condition ie: changed recently. Check the HPO reservoir. Air filter clean? Do you have the 10 K mod that will do it also.
HEY SUBER I just had this problem too and I had just did a full service , I changed my oil again and the problem went away same oil I use all the time too so go figure?
Yeah, kinda weird isnt it. I just changed my oil a couple thousand miles ago, if that. I just replaced the fuel filter and it looked fairly dirty. We will see......................
I dont think your kidding but i just paid $75 to have it changed, I'll ride it out til the next interval. And if the problem goes away because of it then I'll buy you an ice cream sandwhich. But im pretty sure it was a bad batch of diesel, Wally World has been known to supply sh1tty diesel now and then.
Steve I agree with you. Wally doesn't give diesel here but the gas sucks. Still I had the same probs with bad oil and at avery early point after the change.
strange that my truck is doing this to. Its like its stumbles at idle. Weird..... Must be an inter-stellar PSD issue.
Cowboy Steve
Steve, you hit the nail on the head! At rpm my truck does not miss a hit, but at low idle it STUMBLES, the word that I have been searching for! It is just enough to be noticible to the well-tuned PSD ear. I made need therapy for this neurosis, but it really does bother me! LOL.
Well lets now sound off on the oil currently in our trucks!!
Wonder if the HP x-over line from head to head would resolve your stumble. It seems to have made mine more responsive and doesn't stumble at first startup anymore. It goes immediately to good idle.
