86 Ranger potential?

It has the original 2.3L in it, with 186k miles, and I'm trying to decide whether to use a turbo-4 from a Turbo Coupe, or else the usual 302 swap. I want this to be a perfect sleeper, so if it went to V8, it'd be quiet, and I'd prefer fuel injection for the turbo motor. My question is which would be the cheaper of the two? Getting married soon, so money is an important decider in the issue. Any info or tips are very welcome, too. Thanks for any and all help.
PS: It has the manual 5spd, so what would be the best trans for these powerplants?

1986 Ranger Potential... 2.9L!!!!
These motors are great when you're 4wheelin but in a 2wd I haven't found anything as a use for it except scrap... I love my trucks and I dont want to motor swap, because thats borring... I'd rather strip it down and rebuilt it from scratch, but I can't fain anything for this motor!!! can anyone give me a hand??? and sorry I posted this on another post, but it was about the same thing kinda, and I couldn't figure out how to do my own... heh... whatever... if anyone can help me please do!!!!
