Or anyone in the Little Rock metro area with a "built" truck. I've decided to bite the bullet and sink some money into the 7.3 rather than a Cummins swap. But I'd like a little hands-on with a truck that has more than just add-ons.
Nothing weird, like I said, I'd just like to see what 500+ is like in these trucks before spending $30k blindly.
There are no 500 horse PSD's in Little Rock...that I've seen anyways. Of course, I don't know where SolidGround lives. Mine hovers right around 400, so it'll give you a decent idea if you wanna take a ride.
Whatcha drivin are where are you?

Thanks, Robby
Trying to understand this and this is what I read. You already have a 7.3L truck and are debating about doing a cummins swap. Your target is 500hp and you have 30K to spend. I am not sure the entire 30K is for truck + mods or just Mods. If you have allocated that much for modifications, I'd go for a cummins swap, some rough figures from fordcummins site is about 7-10K for motor and about 3K for the adaptation. I know the cummins will make 500hp a lot more easily than the 7.3L and probably with fewer repairs along the way. It is possible with the 7.3L but you are going to be spending a majority of your budget to get it there.

I beg to differ, weekend before last (maybe, before that even) there were three 7.3 PSD's at Centerville. Two ran 10's, one ran a 9.60 then backed it up with a pair of 9.80's. All three were CC dually trucks, allegedly from the Little Rock area.
Saturday night, at the 'bottoms' (ghetto street-strip), the formentioned 9 second truck and one of the 10 second trucks were cleaning up. Beating everything they raced.
FWIW, I drive a 2000 CC LWB 7.3 PSD, a little work, a BTS tranny and anxiously awaiting bigger power.
I don't know how to create a 'signature.'
There is a narrow dark blue bar running across the screen just above the first post on this page. On the left is User CP. Click on it, and then on the left is Edit Signature.

????? I assume this is the 1/4 mile? Holy crap. That is about my time in the 1/8th. That is some serious HP.
Having said all of that. If I had 30k, or even 15k to dump into my truck it would be de-stroked. Matter of fact, it will probably be de-stroked someday anyway. I don't need another truck payment. I'm gonna wait and see what happens with the 6.0 and the 6.4 for conversion options too.
I readthis post and called BS on the times lol. As of right not NO powerstroke has hit 10's in the 1/4. After seeing the 1/8 miles, arnt those times a bit slow?

They are not 1/8th either. 1/4=1320, 1/8th = 660. 1000 is in between. Faster than me.
Tenn, post the link to your slip times, I can't find them but I remember you already posted some.
Also, the next time you're on the highway, take a minute and coast down from 70 mph and post your odometer readings like asked for here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/635823-i-need-some-data-on-coasting.html#post4965321 which is my drag model run backwards. This data will allow me to better calibrate my rolling resistance and aerodynamic drag equations.

I will get those in a few minutes. I would just like to say that I do not like calculations when it comes to this. Every time I tried to figure what my truck would do in the 1/8 based on my dyno #s and truck weight, I got some stupid slow numbers. I suspect my forecasted 1/4 mile times would even be much quicker than my lame forecasted 1/8 mile #s that I easily shattered. This based on seat of the pants feel as I rolled through the 1/8th and was still accellerating hard. I even inputted 7300lbs for the truck which I am sure is on the light side.
Nevertheless, I will provide the numbers in a minute.

Here's a link to the thread. Man that was fun. Come to think of it, I now have added about 3k to the truck since then on a DIODE tranny. Gotta love that. If it is hard to read, here's my best numbers:
60ft=2.005
330ft=6.1188
et@594ft=8.9820
1/8et=9.6250
1/8mph=69.97

I don't want to get arrested for hijacking a thread here, I meant to post on my thread, but I've got it now, and I'll see if I can read it. I've posted at great length on several threads why only my drag race model gives accurate results, and why the other ones do not. I think I give links to those discussions on my referenced threads. I'll give a money back guarantee concerning the accuracy of my results, but getting some additional coasting data to compare with what I've measured would sure be helpful. Speaking of $, the wife dropped the check in the campground box this afternoon.

Please post the link to your drag race model again. I must have missed it. Well, actually, I think I remember it but forgot about it. Must have been working. This thread will take care of itself if there is any more to be had.
I will try a coast down sometime but have to make a concerted effort for that. Have to go out there for that. Not in my immediate future. Should have reminded me before my trip.
As for the gauges, I will PM you with a ? or two before I order. I actually have some carb synch gauges on hand but do not know if they will work for your analysis. Of course they will work but the #s may not jive with yours due to the diff gauge and that is not what you are paying for. I suppose you did not use a pitot tube type pickup? I will PM my ?s tomorrow, actually today.
