Leaking fuel/water separator

I have '86 f250 6.9 diesel that I drained the water from the separator and now I have fuel dripping. Is there an easy way to fix this?

Try reseating the pull ring seal or put a 3/8 bolt up the dran tube with a clamp....best fix. Just remove the bolt next time you drain it..... Air leaks are usually associated with drips and hard starts so yes fix it. Do not remove the water separator UNLESS you have a spin on filter with the drain to replace it..... water kills IPs.

separator leak

I put a brass shutoff valve on the bottom of the hose, been working fine for about a year +.

Hopefully someone smarter will have a better idea.

at next filter change you might go with a WIX filter #33417. it has a drain but no sensor. get's rid of two piece apparatus and the problems inherent with the thumb wheel that puts pressure on the rubber washer inside that seals(until it galls and starts leaking) the drain.
