Missing teeth on the flywheel
I have '86 F250 6.9 diesel w/auto transmission that the flywheel needs to be replaced because teeth are missing. I pulled the starter and the gear is engaging approx. 1/3 of the starter gear and about 2/3 to 4/3 of the flywheel.
Should the gear be engaging more of the flywheel? If so, is the starter shimmed on this year & model?
What is the torque spec for the flywheel bolts?

Is it the OEM starter or the Mitsubishi.... Mitsu has internal adjustment of the Bendix throw arm.
Flywheel bolts are 47 ftlbs.....use correct sealant on the bolt threads (they go into the oil pan area).
