i have used vista since the release , no a single hiccup on my dell. the only thing i seen that i do not like is the stupid game rating. i play alot of tom clancy games from splinter cell to rainbow six. and the vista rating of 2 is a joke. i have 2 gig of ram and 2.5 dual core processor and ati radion dual core video card 512 mb with vista it make for hesitaion free gaming on my 7 speaker w/ sub suround sound very loud when in full on shootout.
What used to take 2 steps now takes 4 to accomplish the same thing.
Stupid allow popups are easy to turn off, but they are not needed anyway..
I have a customers new Dell and am trying to reformat the drive so I can install XP.. This is because vista does not work on some of the older programs they run..
Well I just found out you can't put a XP disc in to try and reformat the drive.. I just got a blue screen of death..
Just another way for Microsoft to entrench itself on your PC.. They make it difficult to remove it...

If you have any old Linux Mandrake disks around, I've used it in the past to reformat drives that are being stubborn. I go through the install routine, run the custom disk partition, format it for FAT 32 and then reboot without installing Linux.
Once you get it formatted in FAT 32, you can go to NTFS during the regular XP install.
Of course, this has been on hard drives less than 138gigs, too.
