So, I sit down to watch the movie "23" tonight. I was well into the movie - plenty far enough along to know about the obsession with the number 23.
Then this happened to me (and yes, this is true)-
I glanced at the digital clock on the cable box: 9:14 PM
9+14 = 23
"That's strange" I think to myself.
A little later on I glance at the DVD player: Chapter 11 Time 40:08
11+4+0+0+0+8 = 23
"That's even stranger" I think.
My son called for me to go pick him up at a friend's house, so I pause the movie and go get him. On the way home, I was telling him about what happended. While talking, I glance down at the odometer (are you sitting down?)
Here is what ticks by as I am talking to him:
100521.6 miles
33.2 on the Odometer
1+0+0+5+2+6+1+3+3+2 = 23
I just swallowed hard and kept on driving.
OBTW, by sheer coincidence, when I clicked on my bookmark just a few minutes ago to visit FTE, I glanced at the clock in the lower right corner of my monitor:
The Law of Fives states simply that: ALL THINGS HAPPEN IN FIVES, OR ARE DIVISIBLE BY OR ARE MULTIPLES OF FIVE, OR ARE SOMEHOW DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY APPROPRIATE TO 5.Fnord
Yes, I watched it all. It was a good movie. I am not generally a big fan of Jim Carrey, but thought he did a great job in 23.
FWIW - I know about the Law of Fives (can't say I buy it though) and understand you can find most anythign once you start looking.
I just thought it was ironicly coincident that I happened to check the time when I did and happened to look at the DVD player when I did.
Also, had I reset my trip meter 1/10 of a mile sooner or later than I did, the numbers would not have added up to 23 when they did (If they ever would have, I don't know and am darned sure not going to start doing the math to figure out.) After more than 100500 miles the odometer and trip meter happened to add up to 23 when they did.
Good lord Brian. I read this and thought to my self it was just a coincidence and not thinking nothing of it. Well low and behold (100% true) I just looked at the clock in the corner of my computer right before I was going to leave this page and it says 10:33am. 33-10=23. Alright anybody got some spare tin foil laying around. I have not seen this movie but im not sure if I want to now.
Well, after reading about all of these coincidences I'm going to go and dig a hole and hide in it, and just to be sure I'll put a rock over top, a very large rock.
