Squeaking & Vibrations

I don't know much about trucks, can anyone help me? I have a '01 F-250, and it seems that I have a problem with the drive shaft or rear end. It started with a sqeaking noise, it is rythem and gets fast or slower as the truck does. It sounds like it is squeaking as the drive shaft turns. Then last night it started something new, the sqeaking stopped but when driving slow or coasting there was a strong vibration and a roaring noise that seemed to be coming frim the rear end. I am worried that the rear end is going out. This morning I checked the fluid level in the transfer and it was good, but I noticed where the drive shaft meets the transmission there is some transmission fluid at that connection. Does anyone know what is wrong? I don't want to go a machanic and get screwed because I have know idea what is wrong.
