yea, a whole $1.50, not to bad at all for us, expensive as heck for them.

That would actually be $4.14 US per gallon. 14 rand per dollar.

Coming home last night I noticed that gas prices dropped to $2.699/gal from 2.729/gal

Going from Lake Tahoe, twenty miles down the hill to Carson City the gas price goes from $3.599 to $2.889.

Huh? The photo is from Zambia, southern Africa, not South Africa. That was listed in Zambian kwachas, and the highest price on there is $1.53 per gallon.
I think it's just more the shock value of seeing four digits for a gas price.

Are you guys sure that price is per gallon? Just about the rest of the world is on metric so that could be liters.

yes, it is liters which is $5.50 a gallon or so, not bad for us but a huge price for them.

it flows down i guess till san fransico where the price for some reason hits a jump ramp.
