i have the factory radio which is the 6 disk mp3 player. it didn't come w/ any other upgrades to my knowledge...amp, nice speakers, sub...ect. does anyone know if i can plug an amp and sub to the factory radio? i want to run a single 12" sub under the back seat
I believe there are no rca's outputs in the back. I am not 100% sure. But i have changed 5-6 new radios in past vehicles and have never seen them. Maybe this time is different.
I heard that you can splice into the rear speaker out wires... it's not the best sounds and after a while it kills your stock head unit... i may be wrong though
Yeah You can buy a kit that uses the signal from the speaker in the truck for the rca's. But the sound quality is not that good. And some amps require two rca's connections.
there arent any rca's on teh factory radio. what you need is called a line output convertor. the change the rignal from rca's to speaker wire leads. you will tap in to the rear speakers. you can do this behind the radio and is usually the easiest so if you ever get an aftermarket radio, the rca's will already be behind the radio. the signal isnt as good doing it this way but it will sound fine. trust me. i have installed tons and tons of these and they work fine. i havent ever heard of them screwing up a radio either.
some amps also have high level inputs so you dont need any rca cables. i have 2 amps in my truck right now under that setup. one amp runs all of my door speakers and the other runs 2 12 in. subs.
