I have a stock truck except with a WW, and I got 25 out of the boost, and it blew the wastegate boots off, is this normal, 1 to get this much boost, 2, to blow the boots off? i'm still a newbe here, by the way I had my foot into it.
The truck will start defuling itself at 25 PSI of boost, The boots you are refuring to are turbo boost, inlet boots. the blue ones are inlet to the intercooler and the black are on the outlet side, orange are inlet to the engine. No its not normal to blow them off! Have you done the CCV mod? Have you had your boots off lately? Doing the CCV mod will stop all the oil resude inside the boots thus will stop blowing them off.

no it is not common to blow off the boots.. but does happen..clean them up good...pipe and boots with dawn dish soap and clamp them back down..you can also find DIY mods and how too do maintenance to your truck in the common mods and maintenance link in my sig...good luck and have fun..
I have a 4" exhaust, with an air kit, but the reason I posted is I thought i only go up to the 20 psi, I bought the truck used, and it only had the stock stuff in it when I bought it. I'm scratching my head too with the high boost psi!
Just got back from the lake today.. Towing with the stock tune, WW, 6637, Turbonetics turbo outlet with larger outlet and no EBPV, cut off exhuast at the tranny cross member, and the wastegate unplugged. I could only get about 19-20lb WOT up a 4% or about grade in 3rd WOT at around 2700 rmp. I can't get any higher than that without turning on the 10k.
Maybe your boost gauge is wrong??? or there is a chip in it and you don't know it?
Do you have an early 99, build date earlier than Dec 98? If so, and the boot that came loose was from the turbo outlet where it hooks to the CAC tube, you need to update the CAC tube. The early 99 has a known problem with this tube not having a lip, and being too flexible and distorting when the clamp is tightened.
earnest, it was manufactured in april of 2000, well here is my real concerns, next week i'm calling jody and brian, to get my chip and vb, so I need to solve the boot issue first,
1. I'm going to do a ccv, and clean the tubes,
2. maybe I need to keep my foot out of the pedal.
3. I can't wait
ok, here are some other issues, even on hot days the max temp I get is 150, not towing, and the most ergs is bout 800 with out towing, could it be my gauges are off, I put in autogauges, now you guys really have me thinking
