I just got my new Turbonetics Turbo complete .84 housing with non EBPV pedistal. Since installing it, the turbo will not boost until I really put my foot in it then it will boost to about 15 lbs and go no more. The thing is really laggy. I have checked for boost leaks and have not found any. Wastegate is closed and I have a DP chip. When I'm under full throttle, no black smoke and egt's only get to about 1000*. Is my turbo bad or is there another place I can look?
how long was it on for??..i have heard a break in time of 500 miles is needed be for you feel the power..wish i could help you more...by the..welcome to FTE
I just installed it yesterday at the same time I was installing a bunch of other mods. I installed a Stealth DIY big oil kit, 6.0 tranny cooler, 6.0 intercooler, CCV mod, and the turbo. Everything else seems to be working good except turbo. I have also heard there is a break in but kinda thought I'd get more out of it. I will try calling Black Widow on monday and see if Kevin and point me in the right direction.
The issue was resolved-simple installation error.....

Well after working on the truck today, I went over ever clamp and tightened them all up as tight as possible. When I was doing this I noticed my clamp on the back of the turbo on the exhaust side was loose. I tightened it down too.. Fired it up and BAM! she's alive. I took off down the road and she really took off. I hit about 22lbs of boost and blew a boot.. I turned around went back and put the boot back on and tightened even more. I took off again and when she got to about 25lbs boom! blew a different boot at the drivers side intercooler (and lost the clamp). I gotta order a new boot now but at least my turbo has come to life.. As far as BWD, they were very helpful when I called and Brian talked with me at lenth about it.
Now I just gotta keep my boots on!!
Yes i was going to mention the point about the chip reburn. It was a major pain the @ss to use two hands to hold the turbo, hold the loose up pipes (i was changing them at the same time), align the dowel to the collector, and also slide the clamp back on over the flanges. You may have overlooked one of these as Bbunting (Blackwidow Diesel himself) mentioned. It did take several hundred miles to get the turbo broken in and spinning smooth. In the first week i installed it, i shut her down and could hear the turbine whining for about 5-10 seconds. Now i can hear it for about 20 seconds. Before i could only make 22-23psi, however now i can push 29 and feather 30 sometimes. That's with the wastegate connected.
