With a non lifted 4X4 F-150, what size tires can you fit on and still have the neccessary clearance? I want to beef up my rig a little, but I don't think I want to hassle with a lift, so I figure a little bit bigger muds or A/T's might help.
Well, 1 shop guy told me 33" with a little trimming, but with a 2/2.5 leveling
kit 33"s are no problem. B-sides kit's cheap 100.00, easy install, and re-alingment. total cost about 200 . that's what I did
Yeah, I was thinking 32"s or 33"s. What did you do for width? 33/10.50?
I've read a few threads that have mentioned leveling kits. Whats the deal with that? Does the kit raise the whole truck up, or is it just for saggy rear ends? Mine is riding nice and level, and I'm pretty sure the guy before me didn't mess with anything down there, so I'm assuming it's stock.
9" or 9.5 can't recall but if your truck is sitting level 1 of 2 things happend. Level kit or
back was lowered by last owner. All these trucks have a rake to them even the 4x4's. It's easy to find out what, check your front coils .There's two kinds of leveling kits
1st a spacer (plastic/alum) that goes between coil and strut assmbly compresses the coil (ok). Then a spacer that goes on top of the strut assembly , better ride does not
compress coil or change shock stroke. Last if you can't see anything check the back for lowering shackles /blocks. But I would guss the latter who would lower a 4x4. If you see the leveling kits in the fronts then 33"s no problem.
It sits nice and tough, so I'm guessing It is the first option. If that da** thing is lowered I'm gonna return the truck, by driving it through the front window with a note on the windshield that says "DON'T LOWER 4X4'S!!"
Also, turns out, I dont' have any kind of leveling kit on it. Where do I buy one, and is it easier to just have it installed, or can it be done yourself?
