One of my pals is working on an engine that can burn a different liquid as well. (actually he is starting with a small go-cart engine, you would never think this liquid would ever burn) Him and his partner ran into some of the same problems that you are faceing. It is hard to explain in words how they fixed it but it is really amazeing how it works!! It involves a long pipe that creates a vortex the liquid is put through the tube and as it goes into the vortex is forced to atomize. There are some other things they had to do because of the certain properties of the fluid but that is basicly it.
