Please tell me someone else has had this message flash across their factory disc player in their truck. The radio and disc player still work and yet when I had my truck at the local dealership for service, I was told the stereo is shot.
Can you clean these? I don't use it (cd ) very often so I'm figuring it might need a cleaning?
I have that happen occasionally, usually only when I have "burnt" cd that I made myself and popping it out and back in always fixes it for me. You might try cleaning the cd that is causing the problem or if it's any cd you put in you can try a cleaning cd or even pop the lid open and take a can of air and blow out the player.
mine does this also (2000) it started last winter when it was cold it would continue to search and spin for a bit after the truck was off , but now that it is warm it has quit. i sprayed it out with air it did not seem to help. will find out this winter if it is junk???
The stock CD players don't last where a dang. Went for a long road trip once and had the tunes blaring the whole way, felt the front of the deck and it was hot to the touch. After that I got the same error message no matter what kind of CD I put in it, so I bought a decent aftermarket player and haven't had any problems since.

I have had the "hot cd" issue many times in the winter when you need the heat going constantly.
Probably that buggers something up inside the stereo.
I remember fixing a Mustangs CD player by running one of those cleaner discs you get at Best Buy. These discs have little brushes on them but this sounds like a different issue.
