Been SWAMPED with work lately, but this thread caught my eye. I would like to help out that weekend on the project - I know I'd learn a lot from you guys.
Tisk tisk Andy, you gotta go ruining their good time with talk of PROJECTS and WORK! Sounds like this bbq is meant to get away from the trucks and have a good time. Wish I had a few more years on me so I could participate and not feel EXTREMELY out of place. I'd probably end up splashing in the pool with your kids as you old guys sit and drink beers, shaking your heads at me
Sounds like a good time. Someone be sure to have a burger and a beer for me. And Mike, just out of curiosity, where are you located?

Andy, you're a bit late on the first project truck weekend but it's ongoing, you're welcome to help out any time you can spare the time. And of course you're welcome to join in at the festivities at Mike's!

Tell me, what can we do to make younger people more at home? Our chapter needs fresh blood, but it does not attract the younger crowd.
Are we going to have to start talking in liters and about 4 cylinder engines? I thought beer, big engines, and fast cars would keep anyone interested! Do we need to go green?
I have wondered if we have failed to acknowledge your expertise in the new engines and engine controls. Most of us can tell you several ways to adjust a carb, but have no knowledge of fuel injection, mass air, or exhaust gas monitoring. What do you think?
Oh no, you guys have done nothing to scare me away from the chapter. I still love coming on and reading your threads and participating when appropriate, but I just wish that there were some more guys my age so that we could participate at the events and not stick out like a sore thumb amongst you older guys. I'm only 19, I'm not even old enough to have a beer with you! Other than that, I have no problems with the topics of conversation around here.
As for 4 cylinder engines and high tech cars, that ain't my thing either. My 95 is not as high tech as you might think, haha. Fuel injection and mass air are not waves of the future, my truck is still extremely easy to work on compared to cars that are being manufactured nowadays.
So the answer is no, don't go green. And don't go talkin about 4 cylinder rice rockets and high tech future cars. I just want some other young guys to relate to... Not sure why they aren't comin!

We were young once ourselves - and what we are missing is young ladies. If we had a bunch of arm candy around we would have to beat you younger guys off with sticks.
That is the solution - build some neat looking rods and troll main street for arm candy! I will bet the younger group would join us in doing that!
Haha well of course that is always a good solution but somehow seems a bit implausible. I'm young and even I have no arm candy. You'd think my gorgeous (I think) truck would gimme a little help...
Not every one will be drinking beer and spitting out the side of thier mouth
I'm in Oakdale, drop in for a bit to eat, shake all us "old guys" hands and no issues if you want to take off if you feel out of place, now that we know you might, we'll probably go easy on ya
That's a bit of a long haul from my neck of the woods for a burger and some handshakes. Would be different if I thought I would stay for a while but I'm just not sure I can afford the gas in my truck, not to mention I'm still trying to sort out some issues and I don't know if she would make it there and back without breaking down on me. We'll see what happens as the weekend approaches, thanks for the invite Mike.
Out of place? The only thing anyone outside those of us that know each other would be that maybe one of us is your dad. It's no different than my helping my neighbor across the steet (also 19) work on his mustang, or working with my son on his F250. Where else are you going to learn?
Oh I would have no problem workin' on trucks with 1 or 2 of your guys, but sitting around chit chatting with a bunch of old guys... I just think my choice of conversational topic is probably a bit different from yours. Would be awesome if my dad were still alive because then we could both take a trip down there, and I'd still feel at home
Haha cmon, you can give me a bad time for being young and I can't give you a bad time for being OLD! I was going to say "old farts" but I figured that was too harsh and went with "old guys". Would you prefer "old dudes"? Or "old bats"?
