So I have the new 08 F-250 4x4 CC, and yes I have read a tooooooon on the regen proccess. Question is though, I just hit 5,500k miles and for the last day everytime I start the truck or put it in park for a period of time the regen kicks in at about 1,200 rpms. Has me worried because its never gone on this long before?? I know some people said it can take anywhere from 5-45min, but I thought driving time counts also...not just when the truck is in park. Truck is runing fine and no CEL lights. Last thing I had done was the oil change at 5,000k miles, and the truck is stock. Any idea or help would be great, for all I know it's normal.
In the last day I have put on about 70 miles and have driven it 3 or 4 times. I went in to the dealer and they scanned it for me. Truck is runing perfect and all checks well. He showed me reading on the regen and it said it can last anywhere from 5-45 min and 100-600 miles. Sure enough as soon as I leave the dealer and get home it stops, haha.
Mine seems like its going into regen ALOT more than when I first got it also. 6600 miles on it since 2/14/07, so its not like i'm driving the hell out of it. Seems like its going into regen every 70-80 miles now. I'm gonna take it in and see if anything is wrong with mine. I'll let you know.
Thats exactly why I was worried because it never went this often in the begining. he assured me its perfectly normal and if it wasnt I would throw a cell. Let me know though, I am curious to what they say.
Wow Speed that is maybe why the mpg is so low. Could it be maybe a fill up was not ULSD that it has to Regen more often to clean out the soot? If it does not complete the regen it might have to keep starting when up to operating temp to finish. Mine use to regen often until I had my 1665 towing trip. Since the beginning of the trip it has not gone into regen for 2000 miles.
I really think it has to do with the gas you use. I have 4200 miles on mine and it seems to go into Regen more when I fill up at Murphy Oil at Walmart. I have stopped going there and have started using Shell ULSD and it seems to be much better. Also, it may be a coincidence, but it seems to go into regen more often when I use Diesel Kleen in the tank. I am going to run a couple tanks without it to see what happens.
