Im having kind of the same problem with my van (95 Aerostar AWD). First it started out as the 5 beep....found out that the bulb was takin out for the airbag ha. Put it in an it stared flashing code 45 I beleive. Was told to just take the fuse out for now but now I get code 12. I had popped the tension pully just after I bought the van and had to drive it back home about 30 miles and now the Alt light is on. Had my light do some strange things for the first time 2 nights ago. Went into a high beam low beam switch back and forth. Was told that the Voltage regulator might be the problem. Not to sure about anything right now.
Dont have a clue about the codes!
Alternator is not charging ? Check for 14-15VDC at the battery with engine running. If not.... get Voltage reg & alternator output tested.
Voltage regulator will affect how the battery charges. Your switching problem sounds like the H/L beam switch is faulty.
Are you sure your light oddity was not the lights switching off for a short time and coming back on? That's a sign that the headlight swithc is overheating and its thermal protection switch had kicked off. The only real fix for this is to install a relay for each of the low and high beam lights.
I think you my be right xlt4wd90. It seems to happen after the van is warmed up....not alway but has happened twice so far. It looks like the Cop cars... flashing their hi's to low beams.
[quote=DaveMac2Vans;4963747]I know, 96. . . .I was so sure it was the clockspring, I figured I must have had a bad one from the dealer and replaced it a second time. I have reached somewhat of a workaround, though. I used a very large hypodermic syringe and pumped that little buzzer full of epoxy. I tried unsoldering it from the board but the circuit missed it and wouldn't let the car start.
Another way to shut down the buzzer is to cut the purple and blue wire from the airbag readiness module.
