I went on a trip to Arizona on my 04 Excursion ant 27ft travel trailer and came back a week ago 7/17/07. On the way back to California the check enngine light came on. So on 7/19/07 I took it in to the dealer so they can see what caused it. At first they told me it was the EGR, they cleaned it, still probelm. They replaced it, still a probelm. They said that they would keep it over the weekend on 7/20/07 and contact ford to see what the problem is.
I got a call today 7/24/07, they told me that ford has been sending them special tools to help test other problems, but that he thinks it might be the intake manifold. He tells me that most of the time is spent talking with Ford over the phone. He also asked to put miles on my truck, that his mechanic would drive it to his house and back for a day to see if he noticed anything different.
I have had it in to other times for injector 5 and then injector 6 aswell as an EGR valve.
Two questions, Have any of you dealt with a same probelm?
and
Has your Dealership asked you to put miles on your truck?
So far my dealer has been keeping me up to date and asked me if I need a rental, so so far I am happy.
When I had my problem child 04 I think everybody at the dealership took it home. Somebody might as well put miles on it because I barely got to drive it in the 3 months that they had it.
I got a call today from my Service Rep. He said the truck is ready to be picked up. They diagnosed the Actuator for the EGR to be the problem, he said it had Carbon Build Up. They changed it and the mechanic drove it and it didnt throw a code so they say its fixed. I cant wait to drive it again, started missing the sound of a diesel.
Have any of you had probelms with the EGR Actuator or something closely related.
Well on 8/16 the Family and I went to Arizona again, were taking advantage of this summer. Well on the way back (8/19), the check engine or emission light came on again. So on Monday 8/20, I took it in to the dealer again. Today 8/24 I spoke with my Rep and he tells me that they will have to change the Turbo. I asked if they found anything wrong with it. He said no, but that was the next step to take. That they had done all the bulletins and it was still throwing a code. He mentioned maybe I can pick it up tomorrow 8/25.
What do you guys think could be the probelm? or if any of you have had similar probelms, what has the out come been.
