Yeah, I saw the one where the compared the Boss429 Mustang against a 1970 LS6 Chevelle, 69 GTO Judge, 69 442,a 69 or 70 Buick GS 455 convertable and an AMC. The BOSS429 was the quickest in the 1/4 mile and scored pretty well overall.

I think there was a 390 AMC in that to...And a Hurst Olds 442 with the 455... they did other things as well as solom, braking, skid pad... the mustang was near the top in most of them...if it didnt win... and they where all on factory tires to so that was the big limiter....polyglass i belive...
It seems that most of you seem to long for that gas guzzeling "Boss" like somebody who can't get over an old girlfriend. The old 429 I remember...1968 Ford Thunderbird...was a dud.
I like the 5.4 better.....I think is's good engine. It's being asked to do alot with all the added pounds that the F-150 seems to have gained over the years. what we need is for Ford to put the F-150 on a diet...My truck weighs in at 5800 pounds....Heavy!
Remember...the 5.4...highly modified, was in the Ford GT!! It had 550BHP.
Amazing!!!
I also think times are changin....Gasoline is not an endless! I don't think it wise to cheat our children out of their gasoline just because we want a truck that will do 13 seconds in the quarter mile..That's my opinion....I like the 5.4.

Is this the same show you saw LX?
Is this perhaps a show called dream car garage? I believe I've seen that episode.
Pretty much everyday I drive by our areas big Roush dealer, Sexton Ford. I've stopped in a couple times to see the 427Rs and gt500s. I hope the trend continues, we really need more all out factory race cars.

The Boss 429 and the 429FE are completely different animals. The 429FE was just a regular big block in the same family as the 460 just not as many CI. The Boss was Ford's Hemi.
429's weren't fe's, they were part of the 385's series of motor (460's, 370's etc)
And the old boss 9's would put any of the other 385 series motors to shame not to mention majority of the other motors of the time out there.
True.....its been a while since I even thought about the old BB fords....never learned that much about them to begin with...I was always a small block type of guy anyway.
The latest issue of Hot Rod magazine has a picture of the engine in Don Bowle's drag car.
Just to Clear Something up. Its the 6.2L (Hurricane/Boss) Jack Roush got a couple of the new Castings to start R&D with. Its Been Comfirmed that 1. Ford has built these blocks and 2. Roush is doing R&D for FoMoCo. (buddy inside roush gave me the good details.)
There was also an add for the Ford Boss block which is a beefed up 302 block. Seems like there could be some confusion if the new family of engines are called Boss and their new "aftermarket" 302 block is called Boss, especially if both are offered in their cataloge in the future. Maybe the amount of people who know of both will be small and probably should know the difference between the two.
