Well the setup comes on Monday so I sure will keep all this in mind. Sounds to me like alot more than I thought it was going to be. I'm sure I will hit a question and hopefully you guys will be on the net, to help me out. I appreciate all the info.
It's fairly easy.. If you have any questions or concerns send me a PM.. I'm on here regularly so I can get back to you pretty quick
I did mine over a few days. Don't know total time. I was not in a hurry. Just wanted to make sure I did it right the first time. If you have to paint your pillar mount, may want to let it sit and dry a day so you don't scuff it up. I modified the guage mounting brackets to make them fit into the pillar mount. I've heard some folks just push them in but, I didn't want them to move. I also used the teflon tape on the trans temp right off the bat. Other than that, just following directions.
MikeF250- how did you modify your gauges? I like the idea of permanently mounting them instead of loosely mounting them. Anyone know what wire to tap for dimmer controls for a 2002 PSD?
I cut the mounting brackets just after the mounting bolt hole. Basically cut the bracket in half. The entire bracket would not fit in the pillar mount. Using only half the bracket snugged the guage in pretty tight. No problems with the set up yet.
Thanks for the reply. Just got off the phone with David from DieselManor and the gauges are in the mail. I think I will be printing up this thread to assist me in the install process. Thanks again.
Brian
My gauges arrived yesterday from diesel manor, I painted the pillar now waiting for the weekend to install. They are very nice, I think you'll be happy with them.
Awesome! I can't wait for them to arrive. We will be installing two sets into two F350's. It will be nice to have a trial truck and a stock truck to refer to while doing the install.
I plan on throwing a LED in for the GP's while I'm at it, I think I'm going to put it right in the pillar with the gauges. That's my plan at the moment at least.
Izzy351, how do you like the trans temp gauge? I was torn between the ISSPRO and DiPricol and finally decided on the ISSPRO after a couple people said they match factory well, plus I liked the full sweep trans gauge. I noticed you have an '02 like me, which has the newer dash display. Still not to late to change my order, just interested on input.
I like it fine. I don't tow (much), so it wasn't that big of deal. You can get a full-sweep tranny temp gauge from DiPricol as well, though. I chose these because of the LEDs and the look, like I said before. They went in without a hitch and I recommend them.
lol... I'd make the change, if I were you. They look really great.
I'm thinking HPOP Pressure for the 4th one, but the fuel pressure gauge is also very tempting. One of these days I'll decide and pull the trigger, but for now it's still empty. On top of that, DP came out with a new F5 switch that would fit in there very nicely. Decisions, decisions...
DP gauge pod interface is also in the works for me, just wasn't sure what to do with that tranny gauge (full sweep or not). I really don't want to pay the extra $40 for the full sweep DiPricol, but the ISSPRO comes with full sweep. Seems like that would be nicer for more accurate temps I do like the appearance of the Dipricol vs the ISSPRO
It's up to you. The point of having the tranny gauge is so you know if/when it gets into the 220ish range. It's easy to see that on either, IMHO. The DiPricols are typically more expensive, but I didn't mind paying more for these. I think they are worth it.
