Cheaper CPS

I'm buying another CPS for a spare, and the parts dept showed the new cheaper CPS as for the '99 up SD. The OBS still showed the more expensive one. Any more info on this? Will the later model cheap one work in our trucks?

Thanks,
Richard

Yes. Several people here have been running it in their OBS trucks since it came out.

Ok....but that's exactly my question. That link says it's for the '97 and up, and my truck is a '96.

There have been many threads concerning this very item, and everyone that has purchased them for the 97and prior years says it works just fine. They will try to sell you the expensive one at the parts counter but this one works in the 96. I have one of these as a spare in my glove box.

Thanks guys, I'll get one tomorrow.

BTW, don't bash the parts guys. The newer one says it's for '97 and up, so they are just going by what the parts book says. I'll let the guys at my store know the cheaper one will work for the earlier year models.

Not bashing the parts guys..BUT....most of them only know how to read the computer listing. they don't know a FPR from a CPS..IMO...
I generally talk to the guys in the shop....or check here...
