Please help me figure whats wrong. Sometimes when I go to start my truck the starter doesn't do anything, or just clicks, like it's not making a good connection until I pull up or push down on the gear selector(still in park). When I push down or pull up on the selector, it starts. Sometimes it sounds like I have a bad electric connection. The battery is new. Starter seems good most of the time. Could the problem be in my key switch? What will happen if I just leave this alone and keep driving? Will I burn up something? Thanks for all responses. Ray
Ditto.
Some are on the side of the Transmission, and some are on the Steering shaft. Loosen the small bolts, use a drill bit 3/32" and push in the hole until both pieces of switch are aligned.
retighten bolts.
Thanks for the replys. What does the neutral switch look like? How do I know if its on the column or the transmission. Truck is a 1986 F150 with 302. Thanks again, Ray
On the 86' its on the transmission.
I am not too sure if you can adjust that one or not.
It has a four prong wire that pushes into the switch.
Try adjusting your selector linkage or cable. At the trans. end.
