1984 F150

Can an electronic ignition be installed on this truck? It is a 5.0L V8 2bbl OHV that is averaging 9 MPH with a recent major tune up.

unlesss you have a swapped engine from an earlier year, you have electronic ignition already.

Thanks. Someone told me they had been advised to install an electronic ignition in their 1984 F150 for improved gas mileage and hp. Thought I should check it out. Any ideas for improving gas mileage just a few mpg 2-4 miles. I don't expect miracles but sho do need improvement.

High-flow air intake and/or exhaust would likely help for not so much cash.

Also try playing with your timing. I had a Ranger that ran 20x better after I tuned the timing by driving around and doing adjustment every few blocks. The timing light said I was crazy, but performance indicated elsewise.
